Question: what dog should i get if he is going to be left alone for 6-7 hours?

none, dogs do anything when there left alone and you wil be responsible for it

Don't get one. It's not fair on the dog to leave it alone for that period of time.

I would LOVE to have a dog, but as I work for 6 or 7 hours per day, I haven't got one of my own.

Get a cat instead. Or offer to walk a friend or neighbours dog.

I would suggest a Shih-Tzu, Their common and can be found in shelters. They are very wonderful dogs, they dont shed, they can be left alone for a while, not yappy, very friendly, a little stubborn. They do need to be groomed regularly. They need very little exercise.

Why would you get a dog, when you know you will be leaving the poor thing by itself for that long? No dog is suitable for that kind of living arrangement, even older dogs. Dogs are pack animals, they instinctively want to be around other people or animals. It's really unfortunate that you would want to take animal like this and seclude it.

Don't get a dog if you're not willing to put forth the proper amount of time, love and affection that is required to have one.
