Question #1:
ramadan : what are the virtues of the family of muhammad (saw) ?
The family members of Rasulallah (saw) were the true friends and well wishers of the people who felt strong grief when they saw people in any kind of distress or suffering. They worked hard to restore the rights of the deprived and gave all their belongings to the needy. The family members of Rasulallah (saw) were always ready to face hardships in order to save others. Sometimes, they would even give to the needy the food or clothing which they themselves urgently needed. There are many of such happenings that took place in the life of our religious leaders.
For instance, once Imam Ali's (as) children [Imam Hasan (as) and Imam Husayn (as)] were sick. Their mother Fatima al-Zahra (sa), daughter of Rasulallah (saw), vowed (Nazr) to fast three days on the recovery of her children, in thanksgiving to Allah (SWT).
Imam Ali (as) and the children all joined Fatima al-Zahra (sa) in thanksgiving. All of them fasted. It was sunset and they had only a few barley loaves of bread for their breakfast.
As they were about to eat their food, someone knocked at their door, saying I am a poor man. Please give me some food. The food, which the whole family had, was very little. They gave it all to the poor man.
Again on next day, when the family wanted to break their fast an orphan began knocking at the door asking for food. The same thing happened on the third day also with a stranger. Each time they gave their food to the needy and they, themselves, remained hungry continuing their fast.
Muslim commentators say, The next day, Rasulallah (saw) came to the family with these verses of the Noble Qur'an: "Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor, a fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. And they give food out of love for Allah to the poor and the orphan and the captive: We only feed you for Allah's sake. We desire from you neither reward nor thanks: Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. Therefore, Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; And reward them because they were patient, with garden and silk." (Noble Qur'an, 76:5-12)
Question #2:
How can I keep neighbors' cats out of my flower garden?!?
They pee, poop, and sleep in and around my bushes and flowers. Need full-proof answers, please.Question #3:
ALL DOGS TO NEED INSURANCE AGAINST ATTACKS , LABOUR WANTS NEW LAW IS THIS RIGHT?
What of the thousands of dogs that will be abandoned because of this law , many owners struggle as it is with costs in the current economic climate right . And why only dogs ?Why not cats i was recently attacked by my nieghbours cat whilst in the garden , it pinned me to the ground and scratched my throat .kitfang , what of all the homeless people who have dogs and for some are there only companion in life how will they cope ?
This is one extra cash burden i cant afford if it comes in my dogs will put to sleep because despite insuring them already i cannot afford further cost , there is a recession for some of us right? Actually no wait a minute my dog insurance already has third liabilty for my dogs so im covered already right ?
JZD / Fair point but are you forgetting , that up until now i like many could afford to own a dog , however with introductions of new laws such as this i am suddenly put in situation where i cant afford to own a dog . What do i do ? Just get rid of it ? Where ? The local dogs home ? Wont they be overcrowded add to that other people doing the same ? And what of the emotional aspect , might sound soppy but i love my dog does that count ? My dog hasnt attacked anyone nor is it likely to, in fact i would be more worried about the hoody scum hanging on the street corner but they arent insured are they ? why is that ? humans are far more dangerous than dogs , why for eg do we not need insurance to get drunk in the town centre ? How many people get injured every weekend on the boys night out or girls , how much violence is caused ? But no insurance needed right ?
In fact it might be said that in surance does very little to discourage anything , and what does it replace ? If a dog has ripped your face off or killed your child what exactly does the cheque from the insurance co replace ?Surely the way forward is not insurance is it ? surely it is compulsory training , better liason with police an better seizure powers , how is our police force going to police this ? Jesus they struggle to deal with petty crimes in any sort of efficency , and now you want to add checking dogs for insurance , what will the law do how will you recognise a uninsured dog till it has bitten you ? nonsense !
@old cynic , wow thats some arrogance you have their, tell me and ive never understood it? why does living in a council house make you some sort of lesser mortal devoid of the same rights of the fine upstanding home owner community? Ramadan - Quick & Rewarding Good Deeds for all of us to do everyday?
I got this email, and subhan'Allah I wanted to share. Some of these things are so very easy and the rewards are amazing. I don't think there is room to post all of them that were listed, but here are some:1. Earn a thousand good deeds in Minutes
Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: "Is anyone of you incapable of earning one thousand Hasanah (rewards) a day?" Someone from the gathering asked, "How can anyone of us earn a thousand Hasanah?" Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: "Glorify Allah a hundred times by just saying “Subhanallah” and a Good deeds will be written for you, or a thousand sins will be wiped away.” (Muslim 4:2073)
3. A Date Palm planted in Paradise for the one who Recites this
Hadhrat Jaa'bir [Ra] narrated that Rasulallah(Peace be upon him) said: “For the person who recites SUB-HAN'ALLAH HIL AZEEM WA BI-HAM'DIHI, [Pure and perfect is Allah in his glory and praise], - A date palm will be planted for him in Paradise” (Tirmidhi)
4. Forgiveness for Sins Even Though they are like the Foam of the Sea:
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “Whoever says, ‘Subhan Allaahi Wa bihamdihi, {Allah is free from imperfection and His is the praise}. One hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea. (Bukhari, Book #75, Hadith #414)
5. We Can Earn Over a BILLION Rewards in Just a Few Seconds!
Narrated ‘Ubaadah that the Messenger of Allah said, “Whoever seeks forgiveness for the believing men and believing women, Allah will write for him a good deed for each believing man and believing woman.” (Tabarrani)
6. That Which Shall Have no Equal on the Day of Resurrection:
Narrated Abu Huraira:Allah’s Apostle said, ”Whoever says one hundred times in a day:
“Laa ilaaha illallaah wahdahuu laa shareeka lahu, lahu-l-mulk wa lahu-l-hamd wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shai’in qadeer,”
(“None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Alone Who has no partners, to Him belongs Dominion and to Him belong all the Praises, and He has power over all things (i.e. Omnipotent)”,}
he will get the same reward as given for manumitting ten slaves; and one hundred good deeds will be written in his accounts, and one hundred sins will be deducted from his accounts, and it (his saying) will be a shield for him from Satan on that day till night, and nobody will be able to do a better deed except the one who does more than he.” (Bukhari, Book #75, Hadith #412)
19. Visiting a sick Muslim.
"There is no Muslim who visits another sick Muslim early in the morning but 70 thousand angels send blessings upon him until evening comes, and if he visits him in the evening, 70 thousand angels send blessings upon him until morning comes, and he will have a garden in paradise." [Tirmidhi]
21. Praying the 12 Sunnah Rakats each day
"Allah will build house in Jannah for whoever is diligent in observing 12 Sunnah rakat (as follows) 4 rakat before and 2 after Dhur, 2 after the Maghrib, 2 after Ishaa, and 2 before Fajr." (Tirmidhi)
24. Good manners are the Heaviest on the good deed scales
Abu Darda (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, "Nothing will be heavier on the Day of Resurrection in the Scale of the believer than good manners. Allah hates one who utters foul or coarse language.''
And these are just a few things. Insha'Allah you find benefit in this. May Allah keep us on the straight path, ameen.

If the Mormons are right about Eden, should everyone with means be buying real estate near Kansas City, MO?
Wilford Woodruff quoting Brigham Young (1879):[spelling as original diary] Again Presdet [sic] Young said Joseph the Prophet told me that the garden of Eden was in Jackson Co Missouri, & when Adam was driven out of the garden of Eden He went about 40 miles to the Place which we Named Adam Ondi Ahman, & there built an Altar of Stone & offered Sacrifize [sic]. That Altar remains to this day. I saw it as Adam left it as did many others, & through all the revolutions of the world that Altar had not been disturbed.

Question #9:
Do these Mormon scriptures rule out the possibility of evolution via natural selection?
There was no death (so could there have been any natural selection?) before Adam:==Two Scriptures About The Non-Existence of Death Before Adam==
Moses 6:48
48 And he said unto them: Because that Adam fell, we are; and by his fall came death; and we are made partakers of misery and woe.
2 Nephi 2:22
22 And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end.
==An Apostle's Understanding of What the Above Scriptures Imply==
Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, The Caravan Moves On, 1984
"True believers know that this earth and man and all forms of life were created in an Edenic, or paradisiacal, state in which there was no mortality, no procreation, no death."

Question #14:
wedding day blues for me?
ok, so my fiance are due to get married on the 24th of this month. Keeping in mind that we both have been married before. Anyways, I don't mind getting a magistrate wedding, but I have a friend that is a proffessional photographer that is willing to take our pictures at a local garden park type area for free and develope the pictures for free. Anyways, so because she said she would do it for free I want to get a cheap dress just for the pictures and he already has some khaki pants and a nice white dress shirt. Anyways, he doesn't want to do that! Then I found out that the county we want to get married in doesn't marry inside the court house, so we'd have to find somewhere to get married, which isn't a problem because we could just get married in his dad's back yard, he doesn't want to do that! His uncle is a preacher so he could marry us for free, he doesn't want to do that! I would like my mom to be at the ceremony along with his dad, he doesn't want to do that! So basically he want to go to another county in Blue Jeans and a T-shirt away from all our family and get married, and NOT tell any of our family!I'm sorry, but he sure as heck didn't mind doing everything for his ex wife, and telling everyone he could when they got married! But he doesn't want to tell anyone with me. I just don't understand it. It honestly is making me rethink this whole thing! Why doesn't he want to make this a special day? I can understand him worrying about money, but the only thing we'd have to pay for is the marriage liscense $45 and a dress for me $50 so less than a hundred dollars just to have memories to look back on when we get older and when our child wants to see her parents wedding pictures. But yet that's unacceptable!!! I'm so confused someone help me understand him, or atleast help me cope with this. Please

How to level front yard to driveway?
So I know really know nothing about gardening, or lawn or landscaping... so bare with me and try and explain to me in a "dummy" way. LOLOur townhome front yard (very small) has sunken on the right side where it meets the driveway. So the lawn on that side sits about a good inch to an inch and a half lower than the driveway (not very safe, I've almost twisted my ankles getting out of the car and mis-stepped)
How can I bring the lawn back up to the same height as the drive way? Also, what is the best way to add large stepping stones next to the drive way as a decorative look (and to widen the drive way a little so that I am not stepping out into the grass/mud everytime)
Thanks for all your help!!!
You both said to add sand and not dirt, why is that? Thanks again for your help.
